The MPV is expected to come with the same powertrains as the Hycross
Maruti Suzuki just about launched the Jimny SUV in India and now it's all set to bring in an MPV. Yes, this will be the Toyota Innova Hycross based MPV and it will be the most expensive product from the company in its current portfolio. Maruti Suzuki has announced that it will launch the MPV on July 5, 2023.
Maruti Suzuki and Toyota Kirloskar Motor have had a partnership since 2016 where both manufacturers have come up with products based on the same platform and technologies. The latest of the lot are the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Maruti's MPV will also share the engine, platform and components of the Hycross and it is likely to come with the 2.0-litre petrol hybrid which makes 183 bhp and develops 206 Nm and is mated to an e-CVT. So yes, a full hybrid is definitely on the cards and it is expected that the lower variants will not get a hybrid option.
On the price expectation front, Maruti Suzuki's MPV is likely to cost similarly when compared to the Innova Hycross. So, Rs. 18 lakh is where it could begin and end at Rs. 24 lakh for the top-end hybrid version.
