Mercedes-Benz has introduced its latest soft-top marvel, the CLE Cabriolet, to the Indian market, priced at ₹1.1 crore (ex-showroom). Positioned to compete with the BMW Z4 M40i, which is available for ₹90.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the CLE Cabriolet offers a blend of performance and luxury that is expected to captivate enthusiasts and luxury car buyers alike.
Unveiled globally in July 2023, the CLE Cabriolet is built on Mercedes’ Modular Rear Architecture (MRA) platform, a foundation it shares with the current C-Class and the forthcoming new-generation E-Class. This advanced platform endows the CLE with increased dimensions, making it longer than both the outgoing C-Class and E-Class coupes.
The CLE Cabriolet draws heavily from the design language of the outgoing E-Class coupe and cabriolet, featuring a prominent grille with a shark-nose effect, an elongated bonnet, and an automatic, multi-layered fabric hood that seamlessly retracts into the boot.
Inside, the CLE Cabriolet mirrors the sophisticated interior of the latest C-Class. It is equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch portrait-oriented infotainment display, offering cutting-edge technology and a premium user experience. The vehicle maintains a 2+2 seating configuration, ensuring comfort and style for both the driver and passengers.
Available in a single fully loaded CLE 300 trim, the cabriolet features a 2-litre, 4-cylinder, petrol engine that develops 255 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque, coupled to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The 48V mild-hybrid system adds 23 bhp and 205 Nm of boost for 10 seconds. It has a top speed of 250 kmph.
