MG Motor India has introduced a new variant of the MG ZS EV at a price of Rs. 27.89 lakh (ex-showroom, India), but it comes with a catch. The new variant of the MG ZS EV essentially comes with Level-2 ADAS, making it the most expensive trim in the range. The new ZS EV is now the second car in the company’s range after the MG Astor to receive Level-2 Advanced Driver-Assistance System, whereas the MG Gloster is equipped with Level-1 ADAS. The MG ZS EV rivals the Hyundai Kona Electric and BYD Atto 3 in the market.
Variant | Price (ex-showroom, India) |
Excite | Rs. 23.38 lakh |
Exclusive Dark Grey | Rs. 27.30 lakh |
Exclusive DT | Rs. 27.40 lakh |
Exclusive ADAS | Rs. 27.89 lakh |
Gaurav Gupta, Deputy MD, MG Motor India, said, “By offering a viable, attractive ownership experience, and an accessible electric SUV to Indian consumers, MG Motor India aims to accelerate the transition towards a zero-emission future and help boost the EV ecosystem in India.”
The new variant of the MG ZS EV comes with the same suite of 17 ADAS features that we’ve seen on the MG Astor. The crucial features include Traffic Jam Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Speed Assist System, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Functions, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Blind Spot Detection. Apart from this, the MG ZS EV also comes equipped with a 360-degree camera, Rear Parking Sensors, Hill Descent Control, Electronic Stability Control, Hill-Start Assist, TPMS, and six airbags.
At the heart of the MG ZS EV is a 50.3 kWh battery pack coupled to an electric motor that develops 174 bhp and 280 Nm of peak torque, which catapults the electric SUV from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.5 seconds. In its latest iteration, the MG ZS EV offers a range of 461 km on a single charge and can be juiced up from 0-80 per cent in under an hour from a 50 kW DC fast charger, while a 7.4kW AC slow charger takes about 8.5-9 hours to do the same.
