The new electric MINI Cooper and Countryman get a distinctive design, advanced drivetrain technology, and a digital interior.
In a move towards a more sustainable future, the iconic MINI brand has unveiled its fifth-generation electric models, showcasing its commitment to urban driving fun and environmental responsibility. The new electric MINI Cooper and MINI Countryman have been designed with an emphasis on distinctive design, advanced drivetrain technology, and a digital experience. Now, with a focus on becoming an all-electric brand, MINI is introducing two of its most significant models.
The exterior of the electric MINI Cooper and MINI Countryman focuses on integrative details, such as flush door handles and the absence of fender flares, resulting in a modern, clean appearance. The addition of new lighting elements, including Matrix LED taillights, further enhances the models' visual appeal. The fifth-generation MINI Cooper 3-door retains the brand's core identity. Available in Cooper E and Cooper SE variants, these electric models redefine the classic Cooper with round headlights and the signature octagonal grille.
Inside, the MINI Cooper's interior design harks back to the classic Mini's minimalist style, featuring a slim dashboard, a multifunction steering wheel, and the central OLED display known as the MINI Interaction Unit. Voice control through the new MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant enhances comfort and safety.
The 181 bhp, 40.7 kWh electric motor in the MINI Cooper E generates a torque of 290 Nm and accelerates the vehicle from a standstill to 100 kmph in 7.3 seconds. With an output of 215 bhp, the MINI Cooper SE sprints from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.7 seconds, with a maximum torque of 329 Nm from its larger 54.2 kWh battery pack. The range determined in the WLTP test cycle is 306 km for the MINI Cooper E and 402 km for the MINI Cooper SE.
On the other hand, the 201 bhp electric motor in the MINI Countryman E generates a torque of 250 Nm and accelerates the car from a standstill to 100 kmph in 8.6 seconds from a common 64.7 kWh battery pack. With 308 bhp, the electric motors of the all-wheel drive MINI Countryman SE ALL4 generate a combined torque of 494 Nm in total and accelerate the vehicle from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.6 seconds. The range determined according to the WLTP test cycle is 462 km for the MINI Countryman E and 433 km for the MINI Countryman SE ALL4.
