This new variant of the Jawa 42 is ₹17,000 cheaper and builds on the same aesthetic updates of the new Jawa Jawa 350.
Just a few weeks after the updated Jawa 350 was launched with more refinement, Yezdi-Jawa introduced the Jawa 42 with a few updates. While these tweaks are mostly aesthetically limited, courtesy of the inclusion of new colour options Vega White, Voyager Red, Asteroid Grey, Odyssey Black, Nebula Blue, and Celestial Copper Matte to the current palette. Beyond that the roadster motorcycle has predominantly remained the same, as far as looks are concerned.
At the heart of it all, the 294.72 cc engine has been slightly tweaked for more refinement. It continues to dish out the same 26.94 bhp and 26.84 Nm, paired to the same 6-speed gearbox. The gearing ratios have not been altered as well, however, the ECU tuning between the gears has been slightly altered for a more aggressive and steady response. Jawa has optimised the engine for a wider torque spread, improved low-end performance, enhanced NVH, and heat management through efficient cooling, resulting in a more refined engine compared to its outgoing model.
Feature-wise, the Jawa 42 was never loaded with all the bells and whistles, and the same continues with the updated model as well. Starting with the all-digital reverse LCD cluster, and the non-LED headlight. Dual-channel ABS and a slipper clutch are the other two features here that have been carried over as it is. The seat has been tweaked for better comfort than before.
Prices for the new Jawa 42 start from ₹1.73 lakh, and in this price range it will have the likes of the Hero Mavrick 440, and the Royal Enfield Classic 350, as its prime competition.
