Here’s a detailed comparison to see how the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire fares against its main rivals.
The Maruti Suzuki is set to launch the latest generation of the Dzire subcompact sedan on November 11. The new-gen Dzire promises comprehensive updates, including fresh design elements, new features, and a new Z-Series engine. Positioned in a competitive segment, the Dzire will face direct competition from the Hyundai Aura, Tata Tigor, and Honda Amaze. Here’s a detailed comparison to see how the new Dzire fares against its main rivals.
The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire comes with a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine that produces 82 bhp and 112 Nm of torque, available with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission.
Model | Maruti Suzuki Dzire | Honda Amaze | Tata Tigor | Hyundai Aura |
---|---|---|---|---|
Engine | 1.2L, 3-cylinder NA petrol | 1.2L, 4-cylinder NA petrol | 1.2L, 3-cylinder NA petrol | 1.2L, 4-cylinder NA petrol |
Max Power | 82 bhp | 89 bhp | 85 bhp | 82 bhp |
Peak Torque | 112 Nm | 110 Nm | 113 Nm | 114 Nm |
Transmission | 5-Speed MT, 5-Speed AMT | 5-Speed MT, 5-Speed CVT | 5-Speed MT, 5-Speed AMT | 5-Speed MT, 5-Speed AMT |
In terms of power output, there are only minor differences across these models. While the Honda Amaze offers the highest power output at 89 bhp, the Hyundai Aura provides the highest torque at 114 Nm. It’s also worth noting that, except the Amaze, each of these models offers a factory-fitted CNG option. The Tata Tigor also stands out with its dual-cylinder CNG setup and a CNG-compatible AMT transmission option. Meanwhile, the Honda Amaze is the only model to offer a CVT.
Each of these compact sedans has unique strengths when it comes to size and space. The Dzire offers a spacious interior, being the widest of the lot, though the Amaze leads in wheelbase and boot space, providing more legroom and cargo capacity.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire | Honda Amaze | Tata Tigor | Hyundai Aura | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Length | 3995 mm | 3995 mm | 3993 mm | 3995 mm |
Width | 1735 mm | 1695 mm | 1677 mm | 1680 mm |
Height | 1525 mm | 1501 mm | 1532 mm | 1520 mm |
Wheelbase | 2450 mm | 2470 mm | 2450 mm | 2450 mm |
Boot Space | 382L | 420L | 419L | 402L |
The new-gen Dzire aims to set a benchmark with several first-in-segment features. Noteworthy additions include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a single-pane electric sunroof, and a 360-degree camera.
The Dzire and Aura both come with six airbags as standard, while the Amaze and Tigor offer only two airbags across all trims. The Dzire also includes ABS with EBD, an electronic stability program, reverse parking sensors, Isofix child seat anchors, hill hold assist, seatbelt reminders, three-point seatbelts for all seats, a rear defogger, and a tyre pressure monitoring system starting from the ZXi trim. The inclusion of six airbags as standard sets the Dzire and Aura apart in terms of safety.
While the official pricing for the new-gen Maruti Suzuki Dzire will be announced on November 11, it is expected to start around the same price range as the current model’s base price of approximately ₹6.56 lakh. However, at ₹6 lakh (ex-showroom), the Tigor has the most affordable base variant in this segment, while the Amaze, at ₹7.29 lakh (ex-showroom) has the most expensive starting price in the segment.
