It seems that Hero MotoCorp might be working on bringing back an old name from its commuter portfolio as a test mule of a commuter motorcycle was seen on test and it looked similar to the old HF Dawn. Hero discontinued the HF Dawn in May 2017 with the HF 100 taking its place as the most affordable Hero bike. The new commuter motorcycle might help bring in a slightly different flavour to the commuter business of Hero.
Much like the old HF Dawn, the spotted motorcycle bears a round headlamp, a not-so-boxy fuel tank, and similarly styled side panels. The older HF Dawn used to roll on spoke wheels, which have made way for alloys that seem to have been lifted off the Hero HF Deluxe. The motorcycle also bears a slim grab handle that is different from the tubular one of the older model.
Hero has decided to plonk in the same 97.2 cc sloper that does its business on the Splendor+ and other HF bikes here as well. While it used to make a bit more oomph pre-BS6, in its current state it puts out 8.2 bhp and 8 Nm.
Expect more development on the new Hero commuter motorcycle by the end of the year. Prices for the bike are likely to be around ₹60,000-₹65,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).
