The fourth-gen Swift will have more of an evolutionary design than a revolutionary design language.
Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch the new Swift in India on May 9, 2024. The Swift has been a popular model in India since it was first launched in 2005 and now Maruti Suzuki is bringing the fourth-generation model in India. Bookings for the new Swift opened earlier this month for a token amount of ₹11,000. Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift.
The fourth-generation Swift made its global debut at the Japan Mobility Show 2023. It sports more of an evolutionary than a revolutionary design language. At the front, you get a revamped grille, redesigned headlamps and bumpers. The new Swift also comes with a new design for the alloy wheels and the rear door handles have moved down from C-pillar. At the back, the new Swift gets inverted C-shaped lighting elements in the taillamps as well as heavily revised tailgate and bumpers.

Inside, the new Swift’s layered dashboard is inspired by the one in the Fronx and Baleno. The highlight will be a freestanding, 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well as connected car tech for the top trims while the lower trims are expected to receive a smaller 7-inch screen. Other features likely to be included in the new Swift will be a wireless charger, a 360-degree camera, a new climate control panel, a semi-digital instrument cluster and more.
The new Swift is likely to come with six airbags, electronic stability control and hill-start assist, among others. The fourth-gen Swift was recently tested by the Japan NCAP where it secured a four-star rating but the results could be different for the India-spec model. However, it will continue on the Heartect platform.

Under the hood, the new Swift is likely to come with a new petrol engine assisted by mild-hybrid technology. The Swift is expected to get the new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine producing 80 bhp and 112 Nm with the mild-hybrid system providing a boost of up to 3 bhp and 60 Nm. This system is likely to increase the fuel efficiency of the Swift to 25.72 kmpl (claimed).
