With an expected starting price of ₹8.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the Kylaq aims to be positioned competitively in the subcompact SUV segment.
The all-new Skoda Kylaq will make its global debut on November 6, 2024, at Mladá Boleslav in the Czech Republic, the company has confirmed. The new Kylaq will then make its way to India sometime in early 2025, to rival the likes of Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO and even the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. With an expected starting price of ₹8.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the Kylaq aims to be positioned competitively in the subcompact SUV segment.
The Kylaq will be built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, the same architecture that underpins the Kushaq and Slavia. Although specific technical details are still under wraps, it is widely speculated that the vehicle will be powered by a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, capable of delivering approximately 113 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. The engine is likely to be paired with both a 6-speed manual gearbox and a torque converter automatic transmission.
While the teaser does not disclose many specifics, a sporty and dynamic profile for Skoda’s new subcompact SUV is expected. It will likely feature a distinct front grille and bumper layout that exudes a unique identity. The side profile features body-coloured conventional door handles, dual-tone ORVMs, and roof rails. This design choice hints at a sporty and modern aesthetic. However, the rear of the vehicle will have a different design approach, with unique tail lamps and a distinctive bumper.
