No toll will be collected for light motor vehicles at the city's five entry points - Dahisar, Mulund, Vashi, Airoli, and Teen Hath Naka.
Maharashtra Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, announced that full toll exemption will be given to light motor vehicles entering Mumbai. The rule will be implemented from the night of October 15 onwards. The exemption will be available to commuters at all Mumbai toll booths, including Dahisar, Mulund, Vashi, Airoli and Teen Hath Naka.
Minister of Public Works (Public Undertakings), Government of Maharashtra, Dadaji Dagadu Bhuse, said, “₹45 and ₹75 were charged at these tolls, this was in effect till 2026. About 3.5 lakh vehicles used to travel up and down. About 70,000 of them were heavy vehicles and 2.80 lakh were light vehicles. Today, the government has decided to exempt light vehicles from tolls after midnight. The time that people used to spend in queues will be saved.”
Bhuse also said this decision had not been taken considering the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra. He said, in fact, the government had been considering making this decision for many months. This decision will help commuters save time entering the city in smaller vehicles.
