We reckon Ola might introduce this new battery technology with its upcoming range of motorcycles.
Ola has been on a trademark spree. After registering patent trademarks of its upcoming motorcycles and commercial vehicles, the Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer has now registered the patent trademark of new swappable battery technology.
Swappable batteries also known as removable batteries are more practical than fixed batteries. All you need to do is swap the charge-depleted battery with a new fully-charged unit, which translates to a shorter stoppage time. Whereas, in the case of fixed batteries, you will have to sit out the entire time until the batteries are fully charged/ or charged enough to reach your destination. This is also very beneficial in urban markets where most of the buyers don’t have a personal parking space to set up a charger. Removable batteries can also be carried to your residence and charged, which negates the need of a fixed charger.

While the manufacturer’s current portfolio does not have any product available with swappable battery. We reckon it will be introduced with the brand’s upcoming electric motorcycles. Given that one of the recent motorcycle design patents trademarked was a commuter motorcycle, the viability of this technology being implemented with these products now seems all the more plausible.
