OnePlus has redesigned its top-end TWS earphones, promising better sound quality and noise cancellation.
OnePlus has launched the new premium OnePlus Buds Pro 3 true wireless stereo (TWS) earphones, promising its “best ever audio experience”. The company boasts of improved noise cancellation and audio quality compared to the previous generation. Highlights of this new pair of earphones include the use of two DACs (Digital-to-Analogue Converters) per earpiece, audio tuning by Dynaudio, and improved battery life thanks to adaptive noise cancellation.
The new Buds Pro 3 is priced at Rs. 11,999 in India and will be available in two colours, Midnight Opus and Lunar Radiance. It will go on sale from August 23 on oneplus.in, the company’s own stores, and third-party online and offline retailers. At launch time, OnePlus is offering a discount of up to Rs. 1,000 to its Red Cable Club loyalty programme members, as well as a Rs. 1,000 discount for ICICI Bank and OneCard members.
Like with its predecessor the Buds Pro 2, OnePlus has used dual drivers in each earpiece for the Buds Pro 3, but the company says both have been improved. The 11mm woofers now have dual magnets for improved sound output and a new ceramic-metal composite diaphragm. The 6mm tweeters feature a 35 micrometre voice coil and also an improved diaphragm.
Each driver now has its own DAC allowing for improved sound tuning, and OnePlus promises zero crosstalk or interference. Improved active noise cancellation can now handle up to 50dB, and it’s now adaptive which improves battery life by dialling down the cancellation level when it isn’t needed.
The HeyMelody companion app can generate a personalised audio profile tailored to each listener’s ear canals and preferences. Spatial audio with head tracking will allow listeners to feel immersed in a performance at a physical venue. There’s also a low-latency game mode, and a Find My Earbuds settings that makes them emit a loud sound to help you locate them if lost. The earpieces’ sensors can detect neck position and display posture adjustment alerts.
Other specifications of the OnePlus Buds Pro 3 (not to be confused with the OnePlus Nord Buds 3 Pro) include an IP55 rating (earpieces only), Bluetooth 5.4 with Google Fast Pair and dual device support, three microphones, and a voice pickup bone sensor. Playback is controlled using touch, swipe, and squeeze gestures. The LHDC 5.0, AAC and SBC audio codecs are supported.
OnePlus claims 4-10 hours of listening per charge with the earpieces, and 17-43 hours of total listening time when recharging them using the battery case, depending on codec and ANC settings. A 10-minute charge should give listeners over 5 hours of playback time. Wireless charging is supported for the battery case. Each earpiece weighs 5.28g and has a 58mAh battery, while the case weighs 50.57g with its 566mAh battery.
