The Macan Electric now gets four variants in total, but only three are coming to India.
Porsche has added new variants to the Macan Electric, taking the total tally of variants to four. The two new variants are the standard Macan Electric and the Macan 4S Electric. Porsche India has started accepting bookings for three variants of the Macan and prices start at ₹1.21 crore (ex-showroom, India).
Porsche Macan Electric Variants | Price (ex-showroom, India) |
---|---|
Macan Electric | ₹1.21 crore |
Macan 4S Electric | ₹1.38 crore |
Macan Turbo | ₹1.68 crore |
The all-electric Macan made its global debut in January this year with the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo variants. However, the Macan 4 is not coming to India anytime soon.
Unlike the rest of the range, the base-spec Macan Electric only gets a rear-wheel drive configuration. Both new variants – Macan Electric and Macan 4S Electric – utilise a 100 kWh battery pack. While the former has a claimed range of 641 km, the latter has a claimed range of 606 km (both WLTP-rated).
As mentioned, the base-spec Macan Electric gets a rear-wheel drive configuration, meaning it only has a 335 bhp, 563 Nm electric motor on the rear axle. With the launch control activated, it can produce up to 355 bhp for a short period. Porsche claims the base-spec model can do 0-100 kmph in 5.7 seconds and has a top speed of 220 kmph. Compared to the Macan 4, the Macan Electric is 110 kg lighter.
On the other hand, the all-wheel drive Macan 4S Electric gets two electric motors (one on each axle), churning out 442 bhp and 820 Nm. It can produce up to 510 bhp with the launch control activated. Porsche claims the Macan 4S can achieve the 0-100 kmph sprint in 4.1 seconds and has a top speed of 240 kmph. It also gets Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) electronically adjustable damping as standard. It also gets active air suspension with levelling and height adjustment as well as rear-wheel steering.
The all-electric Porsche Macan is based on the brand’s Premium Platform Electric architecture, which it shares with the new Audi Q6 e-tron. Porsche claims the battery supports up to 270 kW DC fast charging, which allows it to be charged from 10-80 per cent in 21 minutes.
Additionally, Porsche has added a new Slate Grey Neo colour exterior colour for all the Macan Electric variants. It also gets a new 20-inch alloy wheel design. Furthermore, Porsche is also offering a new off-road package as an option. This package includes an altered front bumper design that increases the approach angle to up to 17.4 degrees, depending on the model and the setting of the air suspension. With the off-road package, the front bumper, side skirts, diffusers and roof rails can either be painted in a contrasting Vesuvius Grey or matching with the body colour.
Inside, not much is different compared to the other variants of the Macan Electric. It still gets the 10.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.9-inch display for the front passenger. Moreover, it also gets a head-up display with augmented reality technology and ambient lighting.
Globally, Porsche will start delivering the new entry-level Macan Electric and the Macan 4S Electric by the end of this year. Expect India deliveries to also start around the same time. It will rival the BMW iX (₹1.39 crore), Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV (₹1.39 crore) and Audi Q8 e-tron (₹1.14 - 1.31 crore).
Porsche still sells the first-generation Macan with an internal combustion engine (ICE). In India, prices start at ₹96.05 lakh for the base-spec model and go up to ₹1.53 crore for the Macan GTS. (All prices ex-showroom, India). Interestingly, many Porsche customers want an ICE version of the Macan and since the second-gen model is based on a born-electric platform, it cannot have an ICE powerplant. Hence, Porsche sells both generations of the Macan simultaneously.
