Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 Bookings Paused as Demand Exceeds Production Capacity

Royal Enfield launched the Himalayan 440, a throwback to the original Himalayan 411 adventure tourer, just a few weeks ago, and now the company says it has temporarily stopped accepting bookings due to overwhelming demand. The company says its entire production capacity has been booked already, far exceeding its expectations. In order to manage expectations and ensure that early buyers get their units, no new bookings will be accepted until further notice.

The Himalayan 440, launched starting at ₹2.29 lakh (ex-showroom), has proven to be popular because of its rugged design, which pays homage to the original adventure tourer. In addition, it offers a smoother 443cc long-stroke engine, an added sixth gear, and modern features including a semi-digital instrument console. Even before its launch, anticipation was high, as the Himalayan 440 fills a gap in the company’s portfolio, slotting in below the much more expensive Himalayan 450 

Royal Enfield says it is working on increasing production capacity for the Himalayan 440, but in the meanwhile, it has paused bookings to ensure transparency and prioritise fans who booked early. The company also says it is actively communicating with buyers to keep them posted about delivery timelines.

The company is celebrating 10 years of the Himalayan brand this year, with over 3,20,000 units sold globally across the series. The original Himalayan was the first indigenously developed ADV bike from an Indian company.
