Samsung is set to launch new devices and will of course talk about their AI features at the next Galaxy Unpacked event.
The date and location of Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked device launch event has been leaked, as per a report published by Sammobile. Doubling down on previous tips that the event would be held earlier in the year than usual, the well-known Samsung-centric news outlet has now said it is confident that the event will be held in Paris on July 10. However, there’s still time for Samsung to change its plans.
Samsung is widely expected to unveil its next foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. The series is typically refreshed later in the year, but no major reason for Samsung changing its schedule has been put forward. Along with these two devices, a more premium ‘Ultra’ foldable with beefier specs and an integrated S-Pen has been rumoured, though it might be exclusive to the South Korean market at least at launch time.
After five generations, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to get mainly iterative improvements, though a larger external display has been rumoured. Hardware specifications will be bumped up and Galaxy AI features will be promoted heavily. Similarly, Samsung isn’t expected to drastically change the design or features of the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
The rumoured Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra could help Samsung bump up its average selling prices, though how exactly it would be more capable than the standard model is not yet known. Interestingly, there have also been rumours of a much more affordable foldable model with an $800 (approximately Rs. 66,688 before taxes) target price, to better compete with Chinese brands that have recently jumped into the market. While it would feature scaled-down hardware specifications, it is not expected to be announced till late 2024.
More relevant to many will be the Samsung Galaxy Ring, the company’s first finger-worn wearable. First officially teased during the launch of the Galaxy S24 series at the last Unpacked event in January this year, the Galaxy Ring is expected to ship later in 2024, but Samsung could announce specific details and shed more light on its capabilities.
The Galaxy Ring is currently known to be a fitness-first or lifestyle wearable, with sensors to track blood oxygen, heart rate, body temperature, sleep, and physical activities. Sizing, availability, and battery life are some of the major points that potential buyers will want to know more about.
Furthermore, the Galaxy Watch 7 series and at least one pair of earphones are expected to be unveiled. Samsung could also talk more about its connected services and smart device platforms. In previous years, special edition variants and industry partnerships have also been announced at Galaxy Unpacked events. As with most companies, Samsung will be playing up AI features and capabilities across its devices and ecosystem.
If accurate, the purported event will take place before the 2024 Summer Olympics kick off in Paris, which the site says is intentional since Samsung is a major sponsor.
