Siddhartha Lal Is Now Eicher Motors Limited’s Executive Chairman

Eicher Motors Limited has witnessed a small reshuffle of its board members as Siddhartha Lal is now the Executive Chairman of the company as well. He will take over from the retiring S Sandilya who served as the Chairman of EML for the past 25 years. Lal’s trusted Vinod Aggarwal and B Govindarajan will also be stepping up in duties with Ira Gupta and Arun Vasu joining the company’s board of directors.

While these new roles mean added responsibilities for Sid Lal and the others for the whole Eicher brand overall, their importance at Royal Enfield, the motorcycle division of EML, will not change. The task will now be to focus on long-term strategy with Royal Enfield gearing up for a whole host of products, including EVs, come 2026.

Back in September 2024, Sid Lal had claimed that it was going to be the year of the Classic, with the refreshed Classic 350 followed up by the launch of the Goan Classic 350 and the unveiling of the larger Classic 650 at EICMA 2024. The larger retro machine will be the company’s biggest bike launch for this year, which might take place in March, and it might just be a very quiet year ahead until EICMA 2025. 

We hope to hear more details on the Flying Flea C6 project soon, which is one of the main future programs in the heritage bike brand’s legacy. It is poised for a launch in 2026 as well as the larger 750 cc parallel-twin engine platform that will be debuted on the Interceptor and Continental GT. So, even though 2025 might not be as eventful for Royal Enfield as 2024 was, the future does look quite exciting.
