The Simple One Gen 1.5 carries forward the same basics but they are now well polished.
After years of waiting, Bengaluru-based EV company Simple Energy finally commenced deliveries of its flagship electric scooter, the One, yesterday. Priced at ₹1.66 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the brand has also introduced a few subtle updates with the scooter, and along with that has renamed it to One Gen 1.5. Here’s what has changed:
The Simple One Gen 1.5 gets dual-battery configuration onboard with provision for both fixed and portable batteries. The combined capacity is 5 kWh out of which the fixed battery has 3.7 kWh capacity while the portable battery has 1.3 kWh capacity. This setup is good for an IDC-certified range of 248 km on a single charge, which should translate to a very respectable 160-170 km of range in real-world scenarios.
The battery powers a mid-mounted electric motor which is good to push out 8.4 kW. It is good enough for the Simple One Gen 1.5 to dash from 0-40 kmph in 2.77 seconds, claims the company. There are four ride modes on offer here – Eco, Ride, Dash and Sonic – each with its own distinct performance setting. In Sonic mode, the electric scooter can reach a top speed of up to 105 kmph.
The Simple One Gen 1.5 is available with both home and portable charging options. The 750W home charger takes 8 hours to fully charge both batteries, while the company claims a 0-80 percent charge can be achieved in just about 4 hours.
The Simple One Gen 1.5 gets a large 7-inch touchscreen TFT dashboard that supports all the modern connectivity features that one expects from today's electric scooter, from real-time data to onboard navigation via MapMyIndia, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and much more. There is also a dedicated app that further enables OTA updates, and it is available with both Android and iOS devices.
Lastly, making the Simple One Gen 1.5 scooter a nice practical option for daily rides is its 30-litre underseat storage space. This puts it on par with most competitors.
