Tata Motors has released the first-ever teaser of the Curvv and the coupe SUV is expected to debut in India by the festive season. The Curvv will first come in its electric vehicle (EV) guise, followed by the internal combustion engine (ICE) versions. While details of the production version of the Curvv’s electric version remain scant, let’s take a look at what we know so far.

Tata

Tata Curvv: Powertrain Options

As mentioned earlier, the Curvv will get multiple powertrain options including electric and ICE. Tata Motors hasn’t mentioned any details about the electric coupe SUV yet, likely to be called the Curvv.ev. Expect it to have two battery packs, two powertrain options and two trim lines which could be called Medium Range and Long Range, similar to other Tata Motors’ EVs. It is also likely to have a claimed range of around 500 km on a single charge. Furthermore, since it will be based on the new Acti.ev platform, it could also get the option of an all-wheel drive configuration.

Tata Motors will also launch petrol and diesel versions of the Curvv after the Curvv.ev. The former will be a 1.2-litre turbocharged direct injection petrol (TGDi) engine producing 123 bhp and 225 Nm. This engine, which will also be E20 compliant, is expected to be paired with manual and automatic gearboxes. The Curvv will also get a 1.5-litre diesel engine with 113 bhp and 260 Nm on tap, and it is likely to only come with a 6-speed manual transmission. However, it could also get an automatic gearbox later.

Tata Curvv: Design

There have been three concept versions of the coupe SUV that Tata Motors has showcased since 2022. The first was the electric Curvv, followed by the Curvv petrol at Auto Expo 2023 and finally, the Curvv diesel at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024. The latest Curvv concept seems to be the closest to a production version.

Tata

The teaser shared by Tata Motors recently shared a teaser of the Curvv which revealed a few key elements. The coupe SUV will get design elements like flush-fitting door handles, a shark fin antenna, and a criss-cross bumper insert design pattern. Most of these design elements could also be seen on the concept vehicle shown earlier this year.

Tata Curvv: Interior & Features

While the teaser didn’t show the interior, expect the Curvv to get a layered dashboard design similar to the Nexon. Front and centre will be a large touchscreen infotainment system that could measure up to 12.3 inches. It will likely get a digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, the Arcade.ev app suite on the electric version, a sunroof, 18-inch alloy wheels, an air purifier, and more.

Tata

Expect the Curvv to also get Tata Motors’ new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo and a flat bottom. It will also get a stubby drive selector similar to the Nexon, Harrier and Safari, along with multiple drive modes and a touch-based climate control panel.

Tata Curvv: Price & Rivals

The Curvv will sit in a new segment, the mass market coupe SUV, and it will only compete with the upcoming Citroën Basalt. However, the Basalt will not get an electric or a diesel version. As far as pricing is concerned, the Curvv.ev could start at around ₹20 lakh, while the ICE version could start at ₹14 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
