Tata Curvv.ev will rival the MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3, and upcoming models such as the Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti Suzuki eVX.
Tata Motors is set to launch its flagship electric vehicle, the Tata Curvv.ev tomorrow (August 7), in India. The anticipation around this new launch is palpable, and we provide you with everything that you need to know about the flagship EV from Tata Motors.
The Tata Curvv.ev is set to make a bold statement with its SUV-coupe body style, characterised by a distinctive sloping roofline. This design will set it apart in the compact SUV segment. Modern design elements such as extensive use of LED daytime running lights (DRLs) and headlights at the front, along with connected LED taillights at the rear, are expected to enhance its visual appeal. These lighting elements come with welcome and goodbye animations when the vehicle is locked or unlocked.
In profile, the sloping roofline is the main highlight, accompanied by aerodynamic alloy wheels and flush door handles. The use of piano black elements around the wheel arches and side sills injects a rugged feel into the design. At the rear, the sloping roofline integrates with the rear windscreen and tailgate, complemented by a shark fin antenna and roof-mounted twin spoiler. The rear bumper features a clear division from the body, accentuated by a piano black finish and a silver skid plate.
While the full interior of the Curvv.ev has not been officially revealed, spy shots and teasers suggest it will share similarities with other Tata SUVs like the Nexon, albeit with some unique tweaks. The dashboard styling is expected to be inspired by the Nexon, while the steering wheel will likely be sourced from the Harrier and Safari models. The cabin is anticipated to have a distinct theme, setting it apart from its siblings.
Tata Motors is positioning the Curvv.ev as a feature-rich vehicle. Confirmed features include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, single-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, auto-dimming interior rearview mirror (IRVM), various drive modes (Eco, City, and Sport), and a wireless phone charger. Additional features that are expected but not confirmed include ventilated seats, vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, and a JBL sound system.
Safety is expected to be a strong focus for the Curvv.ev. The vehicle is likely to come equipped with 6 airbags as standard, an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, Electronic Stability Control, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Details about the Curvv.ev's powertrain remains scarce. However, it is known that the vehicle will be built on Tata's new Acti.ev platform, which also underpins the Punch EV. The Curvv.ev is anticipated to offer multiple battery options, including Standard and Long Range variants, with an expected range of around 500 km on a single charge.
The Tata Curvv.ev is projected to have a starting price of around ₹19.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This pricing would position it as a direct competitor to models like the MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3, and upcoming models such as the Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti Suzuki eVX.
