The Harrier.ev’s spy shots show a rear-axle-mounted electric motor, hinting at an all-wheel drive configuration.
We recently reported that Tata Motor will launch the Harrier.ev in India in the financial year 2025 (FY25) and ahead of that, the midsize SUV has been spotted testing in India, hinting at a key detail.
The recent spy shots of the Tata Harrier.ev show that it gets a rear-axle-mounted electric motor, hinting at the possibility of an all-wheel drive drivetrain with one electric motor on the front and the other on the rear axle. As it is based on the new Acti.ev platform, it can have front-wheel, rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. However, specifications of the upcoming Harrier.ev are yet to be revealed but expect it to have a range of around 500 km on a single charge.
The Harrier.ev was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 and subsequently at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024. The design of the concepts shown at the latter seemed nearly production-ready and wasn’t much different from the ICE version. The new spy shots of the Harrier.ev test mule was heavily covered in camouflage but it shows the electric SUV will have a different design for the alloy wheels compared to the ICE version. However, the Harrier.ev will have a few EV-specific design elements to differentiate it from the ICE version.
The interior of the Harrier.ev has not yet been revealed but it wouldn’t be much different compared to the ICE version. It is likely to come with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 360-degree camera, wireless charger, wireless smartphone connectivity and more.
Prices for the Tata Harrier start at ₹15.49 lakh and go up all the way to ₹25.89 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Expect the Harrier.ev to be priced above ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
