This is Tata Motors’ fourth CNG-powered product in India.
Tata Motors has announced the launch of the Punch CNG in India. The CNG variants are priced from Rs 7.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) to 9.68 lakh (ex-showroom). The Punch iCNG is available in Pure, Adventure, Adventure Rhythm, Accomplished and Accomplished Dazzle S variants. However, the top-end Creative variant doesn't have a CNG-powered version. This is Tata’s fourth CNG product in the country, following the Tiago iCNG, Tigor iCNG and Altroz iCNG.
Just like the latter, the Punch iCNG also gets a twin-cylinder setup that saves up boot space. Essentially, instead of having a bulky 60-litre tank, the Punch iCNG and Altroz iCNG come with two compact 30-litre tanks. The Punch iCNG is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine which in petrol-only mode produces 85 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. In CNG mode, this figure comes down to 73 bhp and 103 Nm of torque. The Punch iCNG is offered with the 5-speed manual gearbox only.
Tata Punch iCNG (Variant) | Price (ex-showroom, Delhi) |
---|---|
Pure | Rs 7.10 lakh |
Adventure | Rs 7.85 lakh |
Adventure Rhythm | Rs 8.20 lakh |
Accomplished | Rs 8.85 lakh |
Accomplished Dazzle S | Rs 9.68 lakh |
Commenting on the launch, Vinay Pant, Head-Marketing, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., said: “Building further on our success with the Altroz iCNG, and to make the CNG segment even more hotly contested, we are excited to introduce the twin-cylinder technology in not just one but three products today – the Tiago, Tigor and the much awaited and loved subcompact SUV, the Tata Punch. Since its debut at the Auto Expo 2023, the Punch iCNG has been one of the most awaited products in this segment.”
The top-of-the-line Punch iCNG comes loaded with features like 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, a height-adjustable driver seat, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, rain-sensing wipers and more. There's also useful feature which allows the Punch iCNG to be switched on CNG mode itself.
Tata Motors has also added some additional kit to the Punch like a voice-assisted sunroof, Xpress Cool system, iTPMS, USB Type-C charger, front armrest, one-touch up driver window and a shark fin antenna. These are available both in the Punch iCNG and petrol variants. The Tata Punch iCNG’s chief rival will come in the form of the Hyundai Exter CNG, which comes in the middle S and SX variants which are priced at Rs 8.24 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 8.97 lakh (ex-showroom).
Tata Tiago iCNG (Variant) | Price (ex-showroom, Delhi) |
---|---|
XE | Rs 6.55 lakh |
XM | Rs 6.90 lakh |
XT | Rs 7.35 lakh |

NRG XT | Rs 7.65 lakh |
NRG XZ | Rs 8.10 lakh |
Tata Motors also announced that the twin-cylinder technology has been launched on the Tiago iCNG and Tigor iCNG, as well. The only change on both these models is the inclusion of the aforementioned CNG tank setup.
Tata Tigor iCNG | Price (ex-showroom, Delhi) |
---|---|
XE | Rs 7.80 lakh |
XM | Rs 8.20 lakh |
XT | Rs 8.85 lakh |

There's also increased boot space and the price difference between the older Tiago and Tiago CNG-versions in comparison to the new ones is Rs 5,000 across the range. Both the Tiago iCNG and Tigor iCNG are powered by 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 72 bhp and 95 Nm of torque whilst being mated to 5-speed manual gearbox.
