While not a household name yet, Chinese smartphone giant Tecno is the largest manufacturer in Africa. After making waves in India with its Phantom V Fold foldable, Tecno looks set to launch the Phantom V Flip soon. Though the phone isn't officially unveiled, accessories for it have surfaced on a Chinese retailer's site. This indicates the launch may not be far off, where it will take on the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Moto Razr.
Protective cases for the Phantom V Flip are listed on Alibaba.com, priced around ₹800. The images also tease a unique circular outer display reminiscent of smartwatches and car infotainment systems. This screen will likely offer notifications, time, date and quick access to apps. There's also a cutout for dual rear cameras with LED flash. Volume and power buttons sit on the right edge.
The front sports a punch-hole selfie camera. The phone is rumoured for an October debut after being spotted on the Google Play Console as model AD11. It is said to pack MediaTek's Dimensity 1300 chipset and a 1080x2,640 pixel full HD+ display with 480 PPI density.
The main 64MP camera will be joined by a 13MP ultrawide shooter, while the front may get a 32MP selfie snapper. Impressively, the clamshell could house one of the largest batteries seen yet at 4,000 mAh with 45W fast charging.
The Phantom V Flip builds on Tecno's Camon 20 photography-focused series and the notification LED-toting Tecno Pova models, much like the Nothing Phone (2). Tecno's foldable expertise with the Phantom V Fold should also come into play.
