In today's market, safety is a top priority for motorcycle buyers. One of the most important safety features is the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS). This safety system prevents wheels from locking during hard braking, which can lead to loss of control. While still uncommon in scooters, ABS is becoming increasingly standard in motorcycles. There are two types of ABS: single-channel that works on the front brake and dual-channel that works on both brakes, the latter being the more safe option. Here's a look at the top 5 most affordable motorcycles in India that come equipped with dual-channel ABS.

Bajaj Pulsar N160 - ₹ 1.32 lakh

Leading the pack is the Bajaj Pulsar N160. It is the most affordable Pulsar you can buy with a dual-channel ABS setup. This motorcycle features a 164.82cc air-cooled engine delivering 15.7 bhp and 14.65 Nm of torque. Power is put down to the wheel using a 5-speed gearbox. While offering good fuel efficiency, the Bajaj Pulsar N160's lower power output also puts you at lower speeds that give you much more time to react in a panic situation. The design is fresh and its recent update with the new colours and the digital instrument cluster makes it one of the most recently updated bikes in the market.

Bajaj Pulsar NS160 - ₹ 1.37 lakh

Another 160cc bike from Bajaj is the NS160. The engine on this is slightly more powerful and produces 17.03 bhp and 14.6 Nm. The styling is just like the NS series with the big muscular tank and the clip-on handlebars. The new update on this bike is the updated digital instrument cluster. Speaking of a fresh look, the bike does have a design refresh with updated graphics on the fuel tank. 2024 Pulsar N160 now gets a USD fork, replacing the standard telescopic fork. Along with changes to the handling the suspension update is also expected to give the Pulsar a better ride and better visual appeal.

TVS Apache RTR 200 4V - ₹ 1.49 lakh

The only non-Bajaj bike on this list, the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V packs a punch with its 197.75cc, four-valve, oil-cooled engine churning out 20.2 bhp and 16.8 Nm. The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V sits at the peak of the successful Apache range, a pre-BMW collaboration engine. It comes loaded with first-in-segment features like turn-by-turn navigation, lean angle data, and crash alerts, along with three ride modes for added versatility. All this at a budget-friendly price of under ₹ 1.50 lakh.

Bajaj Pulsar NS200 - ₹ 1.50 lakh

This motorcycle has a 199cc liquid-cooled engine generating 24.13 bhp and 18.74 Nm, making it the most powerful option on this list. Additionally, the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 features a slipper clutch for smoother gear changes, ideal for performance enthusiasts. While powerful for highways, the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 is a great option for city commutes too. The 2024 update brings a sleek, new digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity. This lets you manage calls, and notifications, and even get turn-by-navigation on your rides. Plus, the stylish Z-shaped LED DRLs enhance visibility in traffic. The bike retains its muscular look but with sharper design elements.

Bajaj Pulsar N250/F250 - ₹ 1.51 lakh

Bajaj offers both the Pulsar N250 and Pulsar F250 with a powerful 249cc, oil-cooled engine generating 24.1 bhp and 21.5 Nm. Both motorcycles come equipped with a slipper clutch for smooth gear changes and dual-channel ABS for a well-rounded bike. The Pulsar 250 duo gets a new digital display, Bluetooth connectivity, and three ABS modes. The Pulsar F250 gets new graphics and a red-black colour option but misses out on the USD fork that the N250 got in a recent update.

That covers the most affordable motorcycles with dual-channel ABS currently available in India! It's worth noting that Bajaj dominates this list, reflecting its focus on offering value-packed features. While dual-channel ABS is a significant safety improvement, remember that it's not a magical safety device. Motorcycles inherently carry a higher risk than cars, so invest in proper riding gear like a helmet, jacket, gloves, and pants. Ride defensively and within your limits for a truly safe and enjoyable riding experience.
