In just a few weeks of 2025 we have already seen the launch of so many kinds of motorcycles and scooters.
2025 has started on quite the encouraging note, especially for bike enthusiasts like us. We have already seen the launch of several big bikes, an ADV-style maxi-scooter, and a proper globetrotter adventure tourer. While some were upgrades, others were absolutely new, built on a completely new platform and powered by a brand new engine. So here’s a rundown of all them:
Hero went out all guns blazing at the 2025 Auto Expo as it launched four brand new products. Starting with the new Xoom duo that includes the Xoom 160 and the Xoom 125. The former is a premium maxi scooter with a distinct rugged style. The latter is a proper 125 cc sporty scooter to take on the likes of the TVS Ntorq 125. Both scooters ride on 14-inch wheels, and are powered by completely new 160 cc and 125 cc engines, respectively. Alongside, the Indian two-wheeler major also ushered in the bigger XPulse aka the XPulse 210, and its first ever quarter-litre naked sport, the Xtreme 250R. While the new XPulse 210 shares a lot with the Hero Karizma XMR 210, the Xtreme 250R is all-new, built on a completely different chassis and powered by a brand new 250 cc, liquid-cooled mill. How good will all four of these bikes be? We’re eagerly waiting to find out.
2024 saw Royal Enfield launch one new bike after the other at a very consistent pace. While the Chennai-based marque is not expected to repeat the same this year, it has started 2025 with a bang by launching the new Scram 440. Priced at ₹2.08 lakh (ex-showroom) it's quite competitively priced, given the kind of upgrades it debuts with. From a bigger engine to better hardware components and two distinct variants to cater to different riding styles. The new Royal Enfield Scram 440 promises to be quite the improvement over the Scram 411. For more details, head to the link here.
Honda had two big pleasant surprises for us this month but the biggest of the lot was the comeback of the Honda Cee Bees – CBR650R and CB650R. The former has launched at ₹9.99 lakh, while the latter costs ₹9.20 lakh (both ex-showroom price, Delhi). Both bikes have made a comeback after they went off the shelves a few years back due to stricter emission norms and dwindling sales. In their latest avatar, both bikes arrived with significant updates and for the first time ever, Honda has not detuned the 649 cc engine to comply with poor fuel standards in both. Head to the link here to know more about the bikes.
The BMW S 1000 RR was another major launch at this year’s 2025 Auto Expo. While the bike’s appearance has not changed much, BMW has implemented a lot of its World SBK learnings into the sports bike. Those big gaping aero winglets are proof of that. And if having a proper track bike was not enough, BMW also brought its most capable GS bike ever, the new R 1300 GS Adventure. The latter builds on the same foundations as the R 1300 GS, but can now cover longer distances with a massive 30-litre fuel tank onboard.
The OG Honda Activa was refreshed finally with features that should qualify it as a modern scooter. While Honda has not changed the scooter’s overall aesthetic much at all, there is a new fully digital 4.2-inch TFT console on offer though. This unit supports smartphone connectivity and thereby contemporary features like turn-by-turn navigation or call/SMS alerts have finally debuted with the brands’ bread and butter offering for India. But the key question is, is it enough to take on one of its key rivals, the TVS Jupiter 110? Find it out in this comparison.
