Triumph Tracker 400 is priced very closely to the Royal Enfield Guerrilla Apex variant that was launched last week.
The locally-developed Triumph Motorcycles, developed by Bajaj Auto are now powered by a smaller, downsized 350 cc engine. This is due to the fact that the older 400 cc unit attracted more taxes with the GST 2.0 implemented in September. At the same time, Triumph also added a brand new model to this range called Tracker 400 that gets the same engine as the other models in this range.
Priced at ₹2.46 lakh, the new Triumph Tracker 400 competes against the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 is priced between ₹2.49 lakh and ₹2.72 lakh (all ex-showroom). Let us look at how these two motorcycles fare against each other in terms of their mechanical specifications.
Both the bikes are built around a tubular steel frame although the Triumph Tracker is built on a perimeter frame with a bolt-on rear subframe whereas the Royal Enfield Guerrilla is based on a twin-spar construction. The latter gets a telescopic front fork whereas the former gets an upside-down unit. Although both naked roadsters roll on 17-inch wheels at both ends, the Guerrilla gets slightly wider tyres. Also, the Guerrilla comes equipped with larger front and rear disc brakes.
The Triumph Tracker 400 offers a larger 13-litre fuel tank in comparison to the 11-litre tank offered in the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450. On the contrary, the latter offers a longer wheelbase, a higher ground clearance and a more accessible seat height than the Triumph. The Tracker 400 is, however, 4 kilos lighter than the Guerrilla making it a tad bit easier to handle.

The power outputs on both the motorcycles are comparable although the peak power in the Triumph Tracker arrives a little later at 8750 rpm. Further, the Guerrilla 450 engine pushes out higher torque output compared to the Tracker on account of a larger engine displacement in the former. Since the Tracker is lighter than the Guerrilla by 4 kilos, the former has a better power-to-wheel ratio.
