The Apache RTX 300 will be the first ADV offering from the Hosur-based two-wheeler giant.
TVS will finally enter the ADV segment in the Indian market with the launch of the new Apache RTX 300 on October 15. The launch event is scheduled in Shimla and we will be also riding the new ADV motorcycle soon after the launch event. While the company has been extremely secretive about its new motorcycle, few pics of the production bike had surfaced online earlier this year giving us some crucial details. As for pricing, the TVS Apache RTX 300 could be priced around ₹2.30-2.45 lakh (ex-showroom).

The TVS Apache RTX 300 will debut with the all-new engine which was first unveiled at the last Moto Soul motorcycle festival. This is the most powerful engine to be self-developed by TVS unlike the 310 cc engine seen on the Apache RR 310, which was engineered by BMW Motorrad. It’s also the first TVS-engineered liquid-cooled powerplant and the 299 cc, single-cylinder engine is rated at 35 bhp and 28.5 Nm. As you can see the specs aren’t too bad and the firepower should be enough to make it a capable tourer. The engine features a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch, it would be interesting to see whether or not quickshifter comes as standard or not.

Despite being present in motocross racing and later becoming the first Indian two-wheeler manufacturer to participate in the arduous Dakar Rally, TVS never made a production ADV bike, which was very surprising. The fact that there wasn’t any TVS alternative to the BMW G 310 GS was also a bit amusing. However, the company will finally take a plunge in the hotly contested and fast growing Indian ADV space. But the TVS Apache RTX 300 wouldn’t be a hardcore ADV machine but more on the lines of a tourer. The bike sports a 19/17-inch alloy wheel setup, which is more road-friendly and is similar to the Suzuki V-Strom 250. So it can do mild off-road riding but isn’t a hardcore mud slingger like say the KTM 390 Adventure or even the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.

The styling of the upcoming TVS Apache RTX 300 heralds a new design language for the brand as it looks very distinct in comparison to other TVS bikes. The overall styling is modern and it has the basic design silhouette of an adventure bike which includes a tall windscreen, imposing face, large fuel tank and a slim tail section. The new TVS ADV bike sports a twin LED headlight and the golden USD fork makes the face of the bike very imposing. On the features front the bike could get a TFT instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, ride modes and maybe even cruise control. TVS will also be offering a bunch of touring accessories such as panniers, top box, knuckleguards and more.
