The Hosur-based bike manufacturer has applied for the trademark
TVS has filed trademark applications for the names ‘TVS E-XL’ and ‘TVS XL EV,’ hinting at a possible electric version of its popular XL100 workhorse. Patent images for the same e-moped had surfaced online a few months ago and it seems TVS will finally get ready to unleash the same by the end of the year.
The XL 100, the only moped in the TVS lineup for decades, remains the only petrol-powered moped available for purchase in India. This move suggests TVS is looking to electrify this successful model, potentially following the path of iQube electric scooters.
We expect TVS to introduce a heavy-duty variant as well, similar to what they offer in their current XL100 lineup. They might also differentiate in terms of range and performance by fiddling around with the battery pack.
Currently, the Kinetic E Luna is the sole electric moped available for purchase, with a price range of ₹ 64,990 – ₹ 74,990 (ex-showroom Delhi). A TVS electric moped could offer a better and more functional product for consumers to switch to electric mobility for basic functional purposes.
