Bookings for the Ultraviolette Shockwave have already started, but deliveries will commence from next year.
Ultraviolette finally expanded its portfolio with two brand-new two-wheelers yesterday. The most eye-catching of the lot is the brand’s debut enduro bike, Shockwave. The bike garnered quite an enthusiastic response for its rugged outlook that looks built for the purpose of indulging in good dirt riding. Plus, priced at ₹1.75 lakh (introductory price for first 1,000 customers is ₹1.50 lakh, ex-showroom, India), it comes across as one fun, affordable electric dirt bike. Here are some of the key details that stood out the most:
The new Ultraviolette Shockwave tips the scales at just 120 kg, which is just 8 kilos heavier than the Hero Splendor, and almost 50 kg lighter than the Hero XPulse 210, its closest rival. This is pretty impressive because unlike the ICE-powered bikes which have engine and gearbox, Ultraviolette has worked on making a lighter battery and the motor itself is compact and lightweight. And with just 120 kg of weight to fiddle around, one can commit to the long jumps on a dirt track much more confidently and not worry about picking the bike up when you have a fall.
While Ultraviolette has not revealed the capacity of the battery, UV claims that it will be good for an IDC-range of 165 km. Which again is another impressive figure, for that means it will be able to cover more distance than the Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 which claims to deliver 100 km.
The battery will power a 14.7 bhp mid-mounted electric motor which is capable of producing 505 Nm of peak torque at the wheel. This should make the Shockwave a zippy and quick bike; speaking of which, Ultraviolette claims that it can reach a top speed of 120 mph and do the 0-60 kmph dash in just 2.9 seconds.
With so much performance on offer here, Ultraviolette has equipped the bike properly for off-road usage. Aside from the front 37 mm USD fork and rear mono-shock suspensions, which are good for 200 mm and 180 mm travel, the bike rides on 19-/17-inch spoke wheels shod with on-road/off-road biased tyres.
Ultraviolette confirmed that deliveries for the new Shockwave will start in the first quarter of 2026. However, bookings have already commenced, and the first 1,000 customers will be lucky enough to get the bike at ₹1.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), after which the bike will be priced at ₹1.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Speak about 2026 couldn’t come sooner.
