As India gears up to celebrate its 77th Independence Day this August, the automotive industry is poised to unleash a flurry of exciting new launches. With brands like Bajaj already leveraging their patriotic zeal to expand the reach of the Freedom 125 CNG bike to 77 towns across the country, this month promises to be a thrilling one for bike enthusiasts. Several other manufacturers are also revving up to introduce brand-new products that are sure to capture the attention of Indian buyers From highly-anticipated sports bikes to sleek new classics bikes, here are the top 5 bike launches to watch out for in August 2024.
Royal Enfield is set to launch the updated Classic 350 in India on August 12, 2024. The update focuses on enhancing visual appeal and rider experience while retaining its iconic character. New colour options and comfier ergonomics with a revised seat profile are expected. Full LED lighting will also be introduced for improved visibility and reliability. The mechanical underpinnings, including the 349cc engine and chassis, will remain unchanged. The updated model will be offered in multiple variants, including a drum brake option. BSA Motorcycles will relaunch its brand in India on August 15, 2024, under the aegis of Classic Legends, and commence its Indian journey with the BSA Gold Star 650. This classic-styled single-cylinder motorcycle features a 652cc engine producing 45bhp and 55Nm. It features simple underpinning which will include a telescopic fork, twin shock absorbers, and disc brakes with ABS. Manufactured in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, the Gold Star 650 will compete with the Royal Enfield Classic Interceptor 650 and is expected to be priced at around ₹3 lakh (ex-showroom). This launch marks a significant development for Classic Legends, the company behind Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles, as it launches its most premium two-wheeler brand in India. Read more about BSA

TVS is expected to launch a new two-wheeler in August, likely to be the next-generation Jupiter 110, which has been due for a major update since its last makeover. The teaser hints at design changes, including LED DRL, flared body panels, chrome accents, and new colours, similar to the Jupiter 125. Additionally, TVS may reposition the fuel tank for added convenience and increase boot space. However, the powertrain is expected to remain unchanged, with the same 109.7cc engine producing 7.78 bhp and 8.8 Nm. The images of the 2024 Hero Destini 125 Xtec scooter have been leaked recently. These reveal a more premium design with new colour options, subtle golden accents, and a dark chocolate brown seat and footboard. The scooter's front apron has been tweaked, and it now features sleek turn indicators and 12-inch alloy wheels for improved stability. The engine is expected to remain the same, with a 124.5cc single-cylinder unit producing 9bhp and 10.4Nm. Additional features may include a fully digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity. The updated scooter is expected to launch in August, although no specific date has been announced yet, and is likely to come with a price increase of ₹3,000-5,000 over the current model, which is priced at ₹86,538 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Triumph Daytona 660 has been listed on the company's website for a while now. The bike has also been spotted in company warehouses, fueling speculation about its impending launch. However, there hasn't been much news on the launch front. Rumours suggest that the company is facing issues with the homologation of tyres. Unofficial bookings for the bike have commenced across Triumph showrooms in India, with a token amount of ₹50,000.
The Triumph Daytona 660 could be priced around ₹9-10 lakh (ex-showroom). It features a 660cc inline-triple engine producing 95 bhp and 69 Nm, mated to a six-speed gearbox. The Daytona 660 has a super sport design with a comfy riding posture. In terms of tech, the bike gets full LED lighting and a TFT/LCD with Bluetooth connectivity and three ride modes.
