New generation of a family scooter or a sporty 110 cc scooter, what route is TVS likely to take?
There seem to be a flurry of launches in August and TVS has just sent us a teaser for its new product, which is highly likely to be a new generation of the Jupiter 110. It has been eons since TVS last gave the Jupiter 110 a serious makeover. Over the years, the humble family runner has received several small tweaks in terms of colour and feature updates. The last of such an update came in a year ago with the drum trim receiving TVS’ SmartXonnect smartphone connectivity module.
The teaser showcases an LED DRL that is quite similar to the one seen on the larger Jupiter 125 and hence, we can expect the same set of changes making their way onto the smaller capacity family scooter as well.
For starters, the design of the Jupiter 110 could very well be different and in line with how the larger 125 cc family scooter looks. Hence the slightly flared body panels, chrome accents and choice of mature and elegant colours could be found here.
TVS is likely to even reposition the fuel tank and position it beneath the floorboard. The Jupiter 125 has the fuel filler cap on the inside front apron and the added convenience that it is offering has helped its case massively. Consequently, the Jupiter 125 also has one of the largest boot spaces on an Indian scooter. Hence, the same convenience features are likely to make it on to the Jupiter 110 as well.
We do not expect much change in the powertrain of the new Jupiter 110. Currently, the 109.7 cc air-cooled single makes 7.78 bhp and 8.8 Nm, which is decent enough for the segment. Add to that the frugal nature of the engine and it becomes a no-brainer for a scooter that is meant to do its bidding for all members of the family.
TVS is likely to continue to offer the 2024 Jupiter 110 in several cosmetic trims as before. The most popular ZX and Classic trims are likely to remain as well.
