The latest sighting confirms that TVS’ debut adventure bike should launch soon.
That TVS is all geared up to launch its first adventure bike this year is not a mystery anymore. We have already spotted it being tested several times on public roads, and images of the production-spec was also leaked without any camouflage for a brief period earlier this year at the Bharat Mobility Show. But the latest glimpse leaves no iota of doubt that the TVS RTX 300 will hit the market soon, and the launch should happen in the next two or three months.
What makes the latest spotting interesting is that the upcoming bike was being tested by TVS’ bossman, Sudarshan Venu. Reportedly, the Managing Director was testing the bike alongside the new KTM 390 Adventure and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 – both of which are the benchmark in the sub-500 cc adventure bike segment in the country.
This is not the first time that the head of a company was spotted riding a test mule of a bike that is yet to launch. Royal Enfield's Managing Director Siddharth Lal has been doing it for quite some time, and those glimpses have also doubled up as promo shoots. From the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 to the Guerrilla 450, and even the brand’s debut electric bike, the Flying Flea C6 – RE’s head honcho has ridden and experienced them all before the bikes were launched officially.
As for the TVS Apache RTX 300, the upcoming adventure bike will be built on a completely new platform. It will be powered by a brand new engine, codenamed, RT-XD4. This liquid-cooled, 299 cc, single-cylinder pot reserves the potential to produce 34 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 28.5 Nm at 7,000 rpm – these are quite the performance-oriented numbers and are on par with the likes of the KTM and RE adventure bikes. But will this tune make it to the RTX 300 or not, remains to be seen.
Besides the engine, the Apache RTX 300 boasts quite the premium build and finish as well. The ergonomics looks upright and neutral, something that will be suitable during long rides. Plus, the hardware components spotted here also seem to help the bike’s case in off-road scenarios – from long travel suspension to 19-/17-inch wheels. Feature-wise, expect TVS to throw in all its best bits it has, especially the ones we have experienced on the other Apache bikes. So, different ride modes, a host of smartphone connectivity features, and even the cooled seat are expected to make its way here.
With all these in purview, we expect TVS might price the upcoming RTX 300 at around ₹2.50 lakh to ₹2.70 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This should put it on par with the likes of the KTM 250 Adventure, Royal Enfield Scram 440 and the Yezdi Adventure.
