Porsche is now on a spree, launching new variants of the recently updated 911. The latest one to arrive is the 911 Carrera T. While earlier the 911 Carrera T was only available as a coupe, it is now also available with a convertible body style for the first time. Its 3.0-litre, twin-turbocharged, flat-six engine only comes with a 6-speed manual transmission.
The engine also produces 10 bhp more than before, with the updated version churning out 389 bhp but the same 450 Nm. With this, the 911 Carrera T coupe can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 4.5 seconds, while the 911 Carrera T convertible take 4.7 seconds. The coupe has a top speed of 295 kmph, while the convertible maxes out at 293 kmph. The 6-speed manual gearbox also gets an auto-blip feature that automatically matches the revs of the engine and the transmission while down-shifting.
The 911 Carrera T comes with the Sport Chrono Package as standard, which also gets the Track Precision App. It also gets rear-axle steering as standard and Porsche says the front axle’s steering ratio has been improved. The adaptive sports suspension is also offered as standard equipment and it reduces the ride height by 10 mm. All of these upgrades result in better handling, as per Porsche.
Porsche says the 911 Carrera T is the lightest 911 variant currently, cutting 40 kg from the regular 911 Carrera. In the lightest configuration, which includes lightweight windows, reduced insulation and full bucket seats, the Carrera T coupe weighs 1,478 kg. The 911 Carrera T sits between the 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera S in the 911 range.
The 911 Carrera T comes with a sticker of the shift pattern logo on the rear quarter windows to solidify the fact that each Carrera T only comes with the manual gearbox. The badges, ORVM caps and alloy wheels get a Vanadium Grey Metallic finish and the exhaust pipes get a black stainless steel finish. Other cosmetic updates include a front splitter from the 911 GTS. A special Carrera T package gives it Genetian Blue accents.
As standard the 911 Carrera T gets 10 exterior colours as standard and as always, any colour can be chosen via the Paint to Sample programme. Inside, the 911 Carrera T gets vanadium grey as standard and the gear shift lever gets a wooden finish. An interior package replaces the Vanadium Grey accents with Genetian Blue.
