Vivo's latest entry-level smartphones share the same eye-catching design but there are a few key differences in their specs.
Vivo has launched two new entry-level Android smartphones, the Y18 and Y18e, in India. Both are already listed for sale on the company’s website and Amazon India. The two new models are extremely similar in terms of design and core specifications, though the Vivo Y18e comes in at a lower price but has a somewhat weaker display and cameras. Both models are listed in the same two colours, Gem Green and Space Black, but the Y18e appears to be available in only the latter at the time of launch.
The new Vivo Y18 is priced starting at Rs. 8,999 in India, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There’s also a 4GB + 128GB option for Rs. 9,999. The entry-level Vivo Y18e costs Rs. 7,999 and is only available with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Amazon India is offering discounts with certain credit cards, and exchange offers are also available.
Both models look the same and have identical dimensions, coming in at 8.39mm thick and weighing 185g. The Gem Green finish uses a “3D micro sculpting process” while the Space Black option has gold rings around the cameras for a bit of flair. The Y18 series phones have 2.5D curved-edge glass displays. IP54 ratings mean these phones are splash-resistant, and Vivo also claims the finishes are scratch-resistant.
Vivo has gone with the entry-level octa-core MediaTek Helio G85 SoC for the Y18 and Y18e. The storage is eMMC 5.1 and both phones support microSD cards of up to 1TB. Both phones have 5000mAh batteries and can be charged at up to 15W. These are both dual nano-SIM 4G phones.

The Vivo Y18 and Y18e both have 6.56-inch LCD panels with the same 720x1612-pixel resolution and up to 90Hz refresh rate, with waterdrop notches for their front cameras. However, the Y18’s display can get brighter at up to 840bits vs 528nits for the Y18e, and also covers a wider colour gamut. The company says the Y18’s display is the brightest in its segment.
Another key difference is that the Y18 has a 50-megapixel primary rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera, while the Y18e has to make do with 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras respectively. Both phones also have 0.08-megapixel (320x240 pixel) depth sensors.
The Vivo Y18e lacks a fingerprint sensor, while the Y18 has one integrated into the power button on the side. Both phones have stereo speakers and 3.5mm audio jacks. Vivo ships these models with Funtouch OS 14, based on Android 14, and there is no mention of how long the company will provide security and feature updates.
