We expect the new Volkswagen Taigun to make its way to the Indian market by mid-2026.
Volkswagen is gearing up to launch the updated Taigun in India soon. This will be the first significant update to the Taigun ever since it was first launched in early 2022. It is expected to hit the roads soon since its platform sibling — Skoda Kushaq — also received a facelift as recently as last week.
A test mule of the Taigun has been spied on the streets of Pune. Interestingly, this partially camouflaged test mule of the Taigun facelift was a left-hand driven (LHD) unit meant for exports. That said, changes between the older and the new model are likely to remain the same.
As seen in the latest spy shots, the camouflage used for the prototype is very thin suggesting very subtle and minor updates. The exterior changes, most likely will be limited to the front and rear end of the car. The spy images indicate a redesigned front grille which will be sleeker than the one seen in the current iteration. It might also feature a connected LED strip between the two headlamp clusters.

Speaking of headlamps, the clusters seem to be reprofiled slightly. Being a facelift, the profile expectedly remains the same. The only change is the new alloy wheel design. At the rear, the taillamps appear to have been refreshed and grown in size. The connected LED stripe will most likely continue with the new model. Volkswagen might add an illuminated VW logo at the centre to enhance the premium quotient.

The interior of the Taigun facelift has not been revealed yet, but the SUV is expected to adopt several updates from its Czech counterpart. Likely additions include a rear seat massager, a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital cockpit with turn-by-turn navigation, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It may also feature a Google-powered AI companion app, along with powered and ventilated front seats.
Powering the Volkswagen Taigun will be the same engine options as the current model: a 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol. The former pushes out 114 bhp and 178 Nm of peak torque whereas the larger 1.5-litre unit pumps out 148 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, and a new 8-speed torque converter automatic for the 1.0-litre unit which recently made its debut in the new Skoda Kushaq.
