While bookings aren’t open for the Golf GTI, Volkswagen is registering customer interest to gauge market response.
Volkswagen India has opened the pre-bookings for the Tiguan R-Line ahead of its launch on April 14, 2025. It can be booked by paying a token amount of ₹25,000. Volkswagen has also revealed key information about the Tiguan R-Line. While bookings for the Golf GTI haven’t commenced yet, Volkswagen India is now registering customer interest to gauge market response for the hot hatchback.
The Tiguan R-Line will be available in six colour options – Persimmon Red Metallic, Nightshade Blue Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White Mother of Pearl Effect, Cipressino Green Metallic and Oyster Silver Metallic. The Tiguan is now in its third generation and only the second-gen was available in India previously.
Under the hood, the Tiguan R-Line is available with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 201 bhp and 320 Nm, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels. The new Tiguan R-Line measures 4539 mm in length, 1859 mm in width and 1656 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2680 mm.
While the interior details haven’t been revealed, we expect the India-spec Tiguan R-Line to come with a 15-inch touchscreen (a 12.9-inch unit is offered as standard on the global-spec model). Globally, it also gets a 10.25-inch virtual cluster, ChatGPT-integrated virtual assistant, ADAS, two wireless chargers, electrically adjustable front seats, Matrix LED headlamps, LED DRLs and LED taillamps.
The Tiguan R-Line is expected to be priced around ₹50 lakh* and will rival the likes of the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq as well as the Toyota Fortuner (₹36.33 - 51.94 lakh*), Jeep Meridian (₹24.99 - 38.79 lakh*) and MG Gloster (₹39.57 - 44.03 lakh*)
* all prices ex-showroom, India
