The ES90 is the brand’s first electric sedan and sixth electric vehicle.
Volvo is set to reveal the ES90 electric sedan on March 5, 2025. The ES90 will be the brand’s first electric sedan and the sixth electric vehicle (EV). It is the first Volvo to use a dual Nvidia Drive AGX Orin configuration, which Volvo claims makes it the brand’s most powerful car in terms of computing power.
The Volvo ES90 is based on the brand’s SPA2 architecture, the second car in the company’s portfolio after the EX90. As per the teasers, the silhouette of the ES90 won’t be starkly different than the S90 sedan it currently produces. And as with all Volvo cars, the ES90 will also get an iteration of Volvo’s signature Thor’s Hammer LED DRLs.
Safety is a big priority for Volvo and the ES90 will have that too. Volvo said the ES90 will have one LIDAR sensor, five radars, eight cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors. Additionally, it will also have an “advanced driver understanding system” inside the car and all of these combined, create Volvo’s ‘Safe Space Technology’. Volvo claims this technology is designed to “help avoid accidents and hazards on the road”.
The Nvidia Drive AGX Orin will also be available on the EX90 electric SUV, which currently includes a mixture of Drive AGX Orin and Drive AGX Xavier. Existing customers will also be able to upgrade to this hardware, free of charge.
