Meta-owned WhatsApp has launched a new feature allowing users to add music clips to their status updates, much like Instagram. The feature, just announced, lets users add musical snippets of up to 15 seconds to their text, photo, or video statuses.

The music addition can be accessed through the Updates section, where users create content that remains visible for 24 hours. For photo statuses, users can select up to 15 seconds of music, while video statuses support up to 60 seconds of audio from their preferred artists or albums.
According to WhatsApp, the platform offers "millions of songs to choose from" in its music library. Despite the addition of this new multimedia capability, the company emphasises that WhatsApp Status remains protected by end-to-end encryption, ensuring user privacy is maintained.
