The Wuling Starlight 560 is expected to launch in India in the same price range as the MG Hector.
The Wuling Starlight 560 appears to be inching closer to an India debut under the MG brand, with the SUV now patented in the country. Test mules have already been spotted multiple times, hinting at ongoing evaluation. It must be noted that both MG and Wuling brands are currently owned by China's SAIC Motor.
In terms of size, the Starlight 560 measures 4,745 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width and 1,750 mm in height, along with a 2,810 mm wheelbase. On the outside, it features a full-LED lighting setup, roof rails, skid plates at both ends, 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels with 215-section tyres, and split tail lamps.
Inside, the Starlight 560 gets a simple yet modern layout with a two-spoke steering wheel, a 3.5-inch instrument display, and a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity. The cabin is finished with leatherette upholstery.
Mechanically, the SUV offers multiple powertrain choices. These include a 1.5-litre Miller-cycle turbo-petrol engine producing up to 174 bhp, paired with either a manual or CVT, with torque figures ranging between 260 Nm and 290 Nm. There is also a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated Atkinson-cycle engine paired with a plug-in hybrid system, delivering a combined 194 bhp and 230 Nm, supported by a 20.5 kWh LFP battery.
The all-electric version produces 134 bhp and 200 Nm, powered by a 56.7 kWh battery pack, similar to the setup seen on the MG Windsor EV. All variants are front-wheel drive.
The model has previously been spotted testing near MG’s Halol facility in Gujarat. With multiple powertrain options and competitive positioning, the Starlight 560 could strengthen MG’s presence in the mid-size SUV segment if launched in India.
