The Redmi 12 series went on its first sale on August 4.
Xiaomi has surpassed over 1 million shipments of the Redmi 12 lineup. The company has been able to achieve this feat in 28 days from when it first went on sale. The Redmi 12 series went on its first sale on August 4 and raked in over 300,000 shipments across the 4G & 5G models within 24 hours.
"This milestone wouldn't have been possible without you, our incredible #XiaomiFans! Your unwavering support, love, and trust have fuelled this amazing journey. With every sale, you've joined us in making history, and together, we've redefined innovation and started the #5GRevolution", Xiaomi tweeted.
The Redmi 12 4G and Redmi 12 5G debuted on August 1 in India, priced at ₹9,999 & ₹11,999, respectively. The Redmi 12 5G is considered an important phone by Xiaomi this year as it is pegged to help users transition to 5G. While Xiaomi hasn't detailed the share of 4G & 5G models from the total shipment, both phones are value-for-money offerings.
We reviewed the Redmi 12 5G and found it worth the price for new upgrades and 5G connectivity. You can read the full review here.
It's been a tough year for Xiaomi, with various market analyses showing a decline in the company's foothold in the Indian smartphone market. Up until last year, Xiaomi held the top spot but has now slipped to fifth place, as per an IDC report. It remains to be seen when the company starts climbing the ladder, but the initial interest in the Redmi 12 series suggests it could play a vital role.
