Gurgaon RTO is authorised to issue and renew Registration Certificates (RCs) for motor vehicles for reasons like change of information, ownership transfer, hypothecation removal, etc. There are usually two kinds of RCs provided by the RTOs in Gurgaon.
Temporary vehicle registrations: A temporary registration is provided for vehicles that are being transported to a different state. It comes with a validity period of 30 days and takes about 3 days for issuance after vehicle examination.
Permanent vehicle registrations: All motor vehicles must be registered to the local RTO as per The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The RTO in Gurgaon is authorised to grant permanent RCs for vehicles in the city.
The RTO offices in Gurgaon collect road tax/motor vehicle tax as standardised by The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. They also conduct vehicle inspections whenever applicable and collect the associated fees.
