RTO Kochi offers all the services that come under a Driving Licence (DL). It includes issuance or renewal, including a new vehicle class, revision of details and providing duplicate copy of a Driving Licence.
Kochi RTO registers all new and old vehicles in the city. Other registration services include issuance or renewal of Registration Certificate, ownership transfer, addition or removal of loan hypothecation, providing a duplicate RC copy, revision of personal and vehicle details in the certificate of registration, testing vehicles for RC renewal, etc.
The RTO office in Kochi provides all types of permits for commercial (goods carrying) and transport (taxi, bus, school bus, etc.) vehicles. The types of permits include tourist, local, state, national and contract carriage permits.

What are the mandatory documents needed to apply for a driving licence in Kochi RTO?

You need to renew the DL within the expiry date; however, there is a grace period of 30 days when you can renew the licence. If your driving licence has expired and gone past the grace period as well then you will have to pay the required penalties to renew the DL. However, you may be asked to take a driving test again if your DL has expired for more than 5 years.
Is a medical certificate mandatory while applying for a driving licence?
A medical certificate is required for applicants who are more than 50 years of age. Also, all commercial driving licence applicants have to submit their medical certificate mandatorily.
Where can I apply for an international driving permit or licence?
You can apply for the international driving licence also known as International Driving Permit (IDP) at the local RTO. You need to pay the prescribed fee and clear the driving test before the RTO can grant the licence.
When can I get the delivery of my Learner’s Licence (LL)?
Your Learner’s Licence will be delivered to you on the same day upon passing the knowledge test conducted by the RTO. However, in the case of the Driving Licence (DL), the document will be mailed to your registered mailing address. As for the international driving licence, it will be delivered in person to the applicant.
Do I need to pay a fee to obtain a registration number of my choice?

While obtaining the Fitness Certificate, should I bring the vehicle for inspection to the RTO?
Yes, the vehicle needs to be inspected by the concerned authority before issuing the Fitness Certificate (FC) from the RTO. If the RTO finds the vehicle is fit to be driven, the FC is issued for a period of 2 years.
