Is it mandatory to obtain a medical certificate to apply for a Learner’s Licence (LL) in Lucknow?
It is not mandatory to obtain a medical certificate for an applicant who is less than 50 years of age to apply for a LL to drive a non-transport vehicle. However, those above the age of 50 years need to produce a medical certificate. This applies even for drivers of transport vehicles.
What is the age criteria to apply for a driving licence to ride a motorcycle with gear?
Applicants for a DL to ride a motorcycle with gear should have completed the age of 18 years. This age is also the criteria to apply for a DL to drive a Light Motor Vehicle (LMV).
Who can apply for a DL to drive a commercial/transport vehicle?
Applicants should have held a DL to drive an LMV at least for a year before they can apply for a DL to drive a commercial vehicle.
What is the period for which a driving licence to drive a private/commercial vehicle can be renewed?
The driving licence for private vehicles needs to be renewed after 20 years or at the time of attaining the age of 50 years. Thereafter, it needs to be renewed every 5 years. As for commercial vehicles or transport vehicles, the renewal period is 3 years each time.
What is the grace period for which the DL needs to be renewed in Lucknow?
The grace period to renew the DL in Lucknow is 30 days from the date of expiry.
What is the pass percentage to clear the learner’s licence test in Lucknow?
The minimum pass percentage to obtain a LL is 60% of the questions posed in the LL test.
Where can the registration certificate be renewed?

Can I alter the basic structure of any vehicle?
No, you cannot alter or change the basic structure of any vehicle as originally manufactured except in case the engine is altered so as to modify the type of fuel used into CNG/LPG/battery/solar power. Also, this is applicable in case the engine is beyond repair and is replaced by another engine of the same make and type as the original.
What if my vehicle meets with an accident after the expiry of the Fitness Certificate (FC)?
The owner-driver of the vehicle will be held responsible for driving the vehicle without FC and the insurance company will not provide any compensation to the victim.
