Mercedes’ George Russell got second place, while McLaren’s Lando Norris came in third.

McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, who was also the pole sitter at the 2025 Bahrain Grand Prix, won his second race this season. Piastri had more than a 15-second lead on Mercedes’ George Russel, who was nearly a second ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris. Piastri also had the fastest lap of the race.

Piastri almost had a close call with Russell as the Mercedes driver locked up in the first corner of the Bahrain International Circuit. Norris, who started from sixth position, had a 5-second penalty as he was out of position in his grid box.

Up until the Safety Car was called out on lap 30, Piastri had built a 6-second lead on Russell. The Safety Car also allowed the top five – Piastri, Russell, Norris, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton – the perfect opportunity to pit and retain their positions in the race. It was after the Safety Car was called off that Piastri started to build the gap on Russell, resulting in the 15-second lead he had on the Mercedes driver.

Norris had to fight the two Ferraris – Leclerc and Hamilton – for this third place, and by the end of the race, he had increased the gap to Leclerc (who came in fourth) to more than three seconds. Hamilton came in at fifth, followed by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, Alpine’s Pierre Gasly, Haas’ Esteban Ocon, Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda and Haas’ Oliver Bearman.

With the Bahrain GP completed, Norris is leading the championship with 77 points and trailing him is his teammate by just three points. Verstappen is in third with 69 points, followed by Russell and Leclerc with 63 and 32 points, respectively. McLaren is at the top of the leaderboard with 151 points, while Mercedes and Red Bull are far behind with 93 and 71 points, respectively.
