While most of the naked sport bike will remain the same as the current model, BMW has made a few tweaks to make it look different.
With just two months left before 2024 ends, auto manufacturers are in a state of frenzy to update their existing portfolio to keep all products up-to-date. The latest to join this list is BMW Motorrad wherein the Bavarian manufacturer just registered the design of the 2025 iteration of its litre-class naked sport bike, the BMW S 1000 R.
Design registrations of the upcoming fourth-generation BMW S 1000 R reveal a slightly different look, especially at the front. The bike features a new twin-headlight setup reminiscent of the M 1000 RR superbike. This design shift not only gives the bike a more aggressive look but also aligns it visually with BMW's superbike range.
Between the new headlights, there's a small air intake, likely connecting to the existing duct in the frame's steering head area. This feature may improve airflow and potentially boost performance at high speeds. Other visible changes include a more compact nose fairing that reveals the steering damper, which was previously largely hidden from view.

The rest of the motorcycle seems to retain much of the current model's design. The fork, brakes, main bodywork, instrument panel, frame, and swingarm appear unchanged in this patent image.
Questions remain about the engine specifications for the 2025 BMW S 1000 R. The current model uses a detuned version of BMW's 999 cc inline-four engine, producing 165 bhp without the ShiftCam variable valve timing system found in the S 1000 RR superbike. It's unclear whether BMW will upgrade the engine for the new model.
BMW has not yet officially announced the 2025 S 1000 R or provided details on its release date or pricing. More information is expected as the launch approaches.
