Sadly, the XSR will not arrive in India any time soon.
The XSR 900 has been Yamaha’s neo retro champion for ages. Now, it has undergone a few changes for 2025. The most notable of them all is the introduction of a comprehensive five-inch TFT cluster, replacing the previous smaller display. This new screen offers seamless smartphone integration, including turn-by-turn navigation powered by Garmin, and more.
Mechanically, the 2025 Yamaha XSR 900 remains unchanged, maintaining the same 890 cc, triple that produces 117.3 bhp and 93 Nm. But the quickshifter has been updated to the latest third-generation version, which makes upshifts and downshifts smoother. In the mix are also two new additional customisable ride modes alongside the existing Sport, Street, and Rain presets. Lastly, a new back slip regulator, which works with the slipper clutch to reduce rear wheel lockups during aggressive downshifting, has been introduced to improve overall riding safety.
On the hardware front, Yamaha has given the XSR 900 a new fully-adjustable KYB monoshock at the rear and a revised linkage system. Besides that, the riding ergonomics remain the same with the same manageable 801 mm seat height, and 193 kg kerb weight.
Sadly the Indian market may never see the Yamaha XSR 900 launch in India. However, the Japanese is planning to launch its middleweight R7 in India. We are yet to confirm the date, but we expect it to happen in 2025.
