Volkswagen Taigun is currently priced between ₹10.99 lakh and ₹19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). We expect only a minor price bump for the facelift over the outgoing model.
Volkswagen will be launching the Taigun facelift tomorrow. The brand has already dropped a few teasers on its social media channels, hinting at what’s to come. This marks the first substantial update for the compact SUV since it originally went on sale in late 2021. Interestingly, the launch will follow closely on the heels of the Skoda Kushaq facelift, which arrived just last month.
Production of the refreshed Taigun is already underway at the Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) plant in Pune. With units now rolling off the line, the picture around the 2026 Taigun is becoming clearer. Here’s a quick look at what to expect.
From what earlier spy shots suggest, Volkswagen hasn’t gone for a dramatic redesign. Instead, the focus seems to be on subtle visual tweaks. Up front, there’s likely to be a revised LED DRL signature, a slightly reworked bumper with darker inserts, and a new set of alloy wheels. Changes at the rear appear to mirror this approach, with updated LED tail lamps and a mildly revised bumper.

Still, a few details could give the facelift a more contemporary feel. Some test vehicles have pointed towards full-width LED light bars at both ends, along with illuminated Volkswagen logos—features typically seen on larger, global models. The switch to all-LED headlamps is also expected, which should sharpen the SUV’s overall lighting signature.
Inside the cabin, the overall layout is unlikely to change much, but the feature list could see a noticeable upgrade. The updated Taigun is expected to offer a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with navigation integration, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. There’s also speculation around features like a rear seat massager and ventilated, powered front seats. Additionally, Volkswagen may introduce a Google-based AI companion app, although details about how it will function are still unclear.

On the mechanical front, things are expected to remain largely the same. The Taigun facelift should continue with its existing turbo-petrol engine options. The 1.0-litre TSI engine produces 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, while the larger 1.5-litre TSI unit delivers 148 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque.

Transmission options are also expected to carry over, including a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. One notable addition, however, could be an 8-speed torque converter automatic for the 1.0-litre variant. This gearbox has already been introduced on the Skoda Kushaq, and if offered on the Taigun, it could appeal to buyers looking for a smoother driving experience, especially in urban conditions.
