Apple is now manufacturing the entire iPhone 16 lineup, including iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, in India, the company told Acko Byte.
Apple has achieved a significant milestone in India by starting production of its latest iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models in the country, marking the first time its entire iPhone lineup is being manufactured locally, Acko Byte learnt on Friday. Now, the Cupertino-based tech giant has said it will open four more flagship stores in the country.
"Our stores are incredible places to experience the magic of Apple, and it’s been wonderful to deepen our connection with our customers in India,” Deirdre O’Brien, Senior Vice President of Retail told Acko Byte in a statement.
“We’re thrilled to build our teams as we plan to open more stores in India, because we’re inspired by the creativity and passion of our customers across this country. We can’t wait for them to have even more opportunities to discover and shop for our amazing products and services, and connect with our extraordinary, knowledgable team members," O’Brien added.

The tech giant has confirmed that these locally assembled premium models, which involve more complex manufacturing processes compared to standard versions, will serve both domestic and international markets.

In addition to expanding its manufacturing footprint, Apple plans to strengthen its retail presence across India with new flagship stores planned for Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi, and Mumbai.
Currently, Apple has more than 3,000 employees in India. The company's also has partnership with a few Indian suppliers. Apple recently collaborated with CleanMax for clean energy capacity to power its offices, two retail stores, and corporate operations in the country, under Apple’s commitment to be 100 per cent carbon neutral for its supply chain and products by 2030.
