Echo Spot is now available for purchase in Black and Blue colours.
Amazon on Wednesday unveiled its latest Echo Spot in India, marking a significant update to its smart display lineup. The new model showcases a complete design overhaul, taking inspiration from the Echo Pop's contemporary aesthetic, though notably departing from its predecessor by removing video calling and smart camera functionality.
The new Echo Spot is now available for purchase in Black and Blue colours through Amazon.in, Blinkit, and Croma's online and offline stores. While officially priced at Rs 8,999, early buyers can take advantage of a limited-time introductory offer at Rs 6,449.
At the heart of the refreshed Echo Spot lies a 2.83-inch touch-screen display, engineered to complement Alexa's voice responses with visual information. Weather updates, for instance, appear with both temperature readings and corresponding weather icons, creating an intuitive user experience.
The device brings unprecedented personalisation options, featuring eight distinct clock faces and a palette of six vibrant themes -- orange, violet, magenta, lime, teal, and blue -- allowing users to match their home décor or personal preferences.
Audio capabilities receive a boost with the integration of a 1.73-inch front-firing speaker. Users can access their favourite content across major streaming platforms including Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, and JioSaavn, with active subscriptions. The display shows real-time song information, while both voice commands and physical controls enable easy navigation through playlists and volume adjustment.
The alarm system has been reimagined with four new sophisticated tones--- Aurora, Daybreak, Endeavour, and Flutter. Users can set alarms through voice commands, including music alarms, with snooze functions accessible via voice or touch.
In the smart home arena, the Echo Spot serves as a central hub for compatible devices and supports Alexa Routines. The addition of Ultrasound Motion Detection enables automated responses based on room occupancy, allowing for sophisticated home automation scenarios.
While video calling is no longer available, the device maintains robust communication features through audio calls to other Alexa devices, household announcements, and Drop In capabilities for quick connections with other Echo devices.
Privacy remains a priority, with a dedicated microphone off button and user access to voice recording management.
