Apple's commitment to sustainability is evident in its ambitious Apple 2030 goal.
Apple has partnered with the non-profit organization Acumen to support social enterprises in India in their pursuit of clean energy innovation. The collaboration, called the Energy for Livelihoods Accelerator, is led by experts from Acumen and will span over 12 weeks. The program aims to assist social entrepreneurs in scaling and refining their businesses to improve the lives of impoverished individuals while also addressing environmental concerns.
Apple and Acumen will identify and select enterprises in India dedicated to social or environmental causes. Applications for the program are open and will be accepted until July 24. The Energy for Livelihoods Accelerator commences in September, later this year.
All successful applicants can join a supportive network comprising peers, facilitators, and mentors. Furthermore, participants will become members of Acumen Academy's global community, known as The Foundry. This membership will grant them access to technical assistance and potential early-stage investment through Acumen's Pioneer Energy Investment Initiative (PEII+).
In addition to collaborating with Acumen, Apple has partnered with Frank Water to expand access to safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene in India. The company has also joined forces with the Applied Environmental Research Foundation (AERF) to preserve mangroves along the country's western coast.
Apple's commitment to sustainability is evident in its ambitious Apple 2030 goal, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality for all its products. For this, Apple has garnered the support of over 250 global manufacturing partners, including 12 based in India. These partners have pledged to transition to 100% renewable energy for Apple production by 2030. Moreover, all final assembly sites in India have successfully achieved zero waste.
