The new Rizta e-scooter would be launched at the upcoming 2024 Ather Community Day in March/April
Despite Diesel being quite a cool and ironic internal codename for its upcoming family e-scooter, Ather has taken to social media to share the official name of the same: Rizta. The Hindi connection to the name is obviously there, signalling Ather’s intent to make it a member of the family. However, the writer can’t help but think the ‘z’ in the name also keeps Ather’s cool, funky and Gen-Z connect very much active.
Ather’s teaser is just too classy as well. Just like a kid, this new member of Ather’s family is shown on a 2D ultrasound machine. While there’s no real heartbeat or anything as such that one can listen to for the Rizta’s arrival, Ather has said that the delivery of the scooter is slated for six months from now, which should be roughly July 2024. Ather will have to get the production for the same ready in due course as well as price the new e-scooter well after the FAME-II deadline lapses on March 31.
The teaser definitely shows that the Rizta is going to build upon the 450 platform and bring out a more wholesome and family-friendly vibe. The easter egg in the top left corner with the ‘450 Hz’ was a not-so-subtle indication of the same. The scooter looks larger and more accommodating than the current 450. Even the body was bulkier, leading us to believe that the underseat storage space wouldn’t be compromising as is the case on the 450S and 450X.
We estimate the performance of the Rizta will be on par with the likes of the TVS iQube S and the updated Bajaj Chetak. Pricing is also likely to be around the Rs 1 lakh mark, with not many fancy features to speak of on the Rizta. But with FAME-II shortly not going to be in the picture, pricing strategies of every electric manufacturer are bound to change.
